Last winter i put in a 302 and a t5. I just bought a ford racing 351w and a tko3550 that i want to swap in this winter. Does anyone know of a header that will work with my stock steering?

Headman has a set that will fit the 351W and give about 2" of clearance for the stock steering for my 54. I got mine from Summit but I don't remember the part number. I will look for the receipt tomorrow for the part number. I can also take some pictures Friday of the actual clearance if you would like.

    A 351W and a 3550, - - - - you will grin till the day you die. What a combo!

Use the same motor mounts off of your 302. Oil pan will be a standard front sump unit.

The headers are from Summit and they are part #HED-88650, and cost $175.95. The only problem with the headers themselves are that they are not ceramic and don't have heat resistant paint. Also when I was putting the headers on, I had to pull the engine so that I could reach all the bolts because the pipes are not made for easy access. You will need a box wrench to access a few of the bolts. Another thing I had to do was run a dye across each bolt because the paint on the threads wouldn't allow them to thread in easy.

As for the motor mounts, they are part #2329 from O'Reilly's and cost about $9.00. My motor mounts didn't just slip right in and I had to open the holes up a little so the engine still mounted straight. The 302 motor mounts didn't work for me because the 351 is taller than the 302 and combo with the headers will cause the flanges to hit the toe boards.

My 351W is from an 84 Bronco so I'm using the stock front sump oil pan that came with the engine.

The Hedman 88650 is for early mustang with a 351W 1 5/8" primaries 3" collector the Hedman 88400 is for 289-302 early Mustang 1 1/2" primaries 2 1/2" collector this would probably provide additional clearance used with a 351W as cylinder heads will interchange you can probably use either header the smaller primary tubes would benefit low end torque where most cruising RPM's are so can't see any HP loss overall. As for the deck height difference good advice on the motor mounts, fordsbyjay did post a link with a picture of the slots in the frame mounts a while back.

Question for 54HotRod,does the '84 Bronco timing cover have a front mount dipstick and mechanical fuel pump like earlier models used?
