I have a chance to buy a complete 354 Hemi engine and 3 extra sets of heads and was wondering what to look for? What's something like that worth? And he said one set of the heads was "ear-less" or "pruned" and was on a race car, what is he talking about? Any info would be helpful. Matt
Even if the block is cracked, I think it is worth getting, the block I bought was cracked on the outside but repaired. These blocks are worth fixing, but I would not pay premium price for a cracked block. On what to pay, really depends on where you are located, I paid $900 for a complete but disassembled motor(354) but a friend of mine paid a quarter of that for a 392 from an imperial, so I would try to get it for less than what I paid. Just rember if you have to rebuild it the parts are high, you will also become friends with Hot Heads. Good luck, If you need more info on 354 stuff PM me.
I'm not sure what he meant, but I would guess he might mean that the extended water port at each end of the head was gone. One end is used to connect the water cross over & the other is covered by a block off plate. They have one on both ends so the head can be used on either side. When you find out what he means , let us know--- never heard the term before. Dave
I've heard of the mounting ears being ripped out of the blocks on blown fuel engines, requiring mounting plates to prevent it.
