I will be watching this one. Please post all the pics you can of the chop and how you did it. I love this stuff.
Thank you so much for the side shots of the chop. One question for you, you said that you measured up 12" on the "B" pillar. where did you start from, was it from the first belt line or the second? The reason I am watching this thread very closely is because of what I am working on; http://jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300942 Please keep the updates coming on this chop and nice work so far.
You bastard! You just couldn't wait for me to get down there could ya! Looks awesome Kevin! Nice work, keep it coming! I'll be down next weekend.
Everytime I see your garage I sigh.... MUST BE NICE and now you go and fill it and include a chopped 36, Im subscribing but Im sad at the same time, AKA JEALOUS!!! looks great man and do it your way, I dont see anyone in the pics giving you a helping hand or advice so if it gets done then its done. 2+2=4 and 3+1=4 also!!! keep it up
36's are my favorite I might have to do a 3 window after my 36 roadster is done. Keep the photos coming great job so far Danny.
Looks like you are off to a great start. One thing you might want to do to the the 2 narrow slits on each side of the rear window would be to open them up a bit. I did this on my car because I was afraid that body flex over time would cause tension at the very point or top end of the slits causing problems with the paint. I opened the slits up with a gentle circle at the top. Here are a few shots of what I did. Hope it helps. Good Luck!
I totally agree with you man, more than one way to get the job done. It will look great when its done and thats all thats matters. '36 3 window is a beautiful car, I just don't know about that nose piece you want to use...I will have to wait and see.
Nope I had to start cutting...i wanted to do it last week but all that stuff came up...but Im pushing hard to get this done I wanna go to B-ville next year
nope I like to work by myself...its easier that way...every now and then I need a hand holding something my dad comes to help...but for the most part its just me...not bad for a 24 year old kid now if i could only finish one of the 5 i got torn apart
Thanks for posting, I love 36 coupes! It's interesting to see you chopping method also, thanks! That grille shell is awsome too man! Keep the progress pics coming.
Heres a little update...starting to get the roof buttoned up...I got a top panel from Walden speed shop and started welding it in...also started some filler work.. I also picked up a bunch of goodies for the flathead...new cam, scat rotating assembly, edelbrock 4x2 intake manifold, Harrell heads, Harman Collins Magneto....found a nice 39 pedal assembly, a good set of 36 taillight stands, 36 ford clock mirror, i also got a really nice 36 dash at carlisle and a spare tire carrier as well Pile of parts:
I am sooo jealous. I really want a 36 3 window. Yours is looking just like I envision...Keep it going. You might have to sell off some of your other 5 projects to see this one through. I will build one soon.. Jeff
Thanks...prolly wont sell anything though i have the funds to finish it...im planning on having it done for Bonneville next year..
