I am about to build a 36 chev 2 door sedan. the doors are saging and falling of because they have wood as support. . Has anyone here replaced the wood with steel in this type of door? would like to hear from you with input on how its done, or pictures of the way it is done. thanks ray
i built a 36 chevy truck, and replaced the wood with the steel supports from a roached 38 cab.same exact inner structure, cept they replaced the wood with steel in 37 or 38.getting the old wood and screws out was harder than putting the new steel in...not sure about sedans, but if the body style is the same,it's worth trying to find a donor...
I have a 36´Chevy to wich needs wood-replacements, but I have some other projects that comes first! I will look and learn here!
I once owned a '36 Chevy, and it was the wood issue that caused me to sell it and move on. That was 34 years ago, and I recently saw the same car for sale on eBay. I got to examine the car again in April and the wood hasn't gotten any better in 30-some years.
