My 36 Chevy pickup sits low in the front, lower than I would like. The original leaf springs have eight leaves but mine only has three...I know this is a dumb question but I am pretty new to all this...if I replace the missing leaves will that raise my front end appreciably?
Yes, although the ride will probably be stiffer. Do the springs sit on top of the axle? If so, perhaps a 1 inch block between the spring and axle will do the trick?
Hildy, I left 5 leafs in my front and rear springs , cant for the life if me remember which combination ( now have 5 in the rear and a OT front suspension- which I absolutely hate). The stance was alright, with stock I beam, about 3"-4" lower than stock and the ride was tolerable. You shouldnt have much difficulty finding someone who has some 1&3/4"wide spring leafs (does'nt have to be from a 36 Chevy) from a suspension swap. Mix and match till you get to where you're happy. Mitch
You can also replace the front shackle plates with rear shackle plates to gain hight as the rears are longer. I changed mine to raise the front once my new springs settled a bit. If you like the ride quality, just add a block to the spring pack the thickness of the missing springs, you will need a longer center pin, but any trailer supply will have them alone with new u-bolts.
