The rod gods have smiled upon me last week, and presented me with a 35-40 Ford ch***is for the right price (ie: free)

A quick question: has anyone ever slotted a Y-block into a 35-40? Does the firewall have to be recessed?

    Cheers, Matt

someone told me that if you use a muastngII set up there might be a issue will the oil, pan, thenalot fo guys have issues with oil pans on small block fords but at least there are some options. they questions is yblocks are gonna cost more than other engines to rebuild an find parts for, also another issue is getting all the pulleys up front to fit the engine will fit the frame and firewall(must recess) but the front of the 35-37 fords get narrow at the front making life intresting,

if you want it everything is possable, if you are limited by budget life is difficult

My Dad had a chanelled 35 Coupe with a Y Block in it and the recess had to be widened, not sure on a stock bodied one.

  4. My friend has a 40 with a y-block and stock trans and I believe the firewall remains unmolested.

    Too good, thanks folks. Think **** Brady's 36 3W in 1959: that's the look I'm going for!

OK, here's the inspiration. Opinions needed: Offy-dressed Y-block with dual quads & a 4 speed.

  7. Go with a flathead. You can get 300 cubes and not ruin a priceless old Ford. If I wanted to drive a Mustang too, I would buy a Mustang too.

Can't remember mentioning anything about a Mustang. How is slotting a 292 into a 36 'ruining' it?

    Cheers, Matt

that car was in R&C a few years ago, still yellow, but with a sbc...

that would be a killer combo, go for it

I saw it on the net. Still looking good. It had a sbc in it in '59.
