This belongs to a customer of mine. He wanted something he could drive while getting his 33 plymouth 5 window with baby hemi built later. Decided on this. Tyin to do it on a budget as well. So far, so good.
Before anything gets said, it is a slant six/4speed. It is most likely getting a set of sidedraft webers and split exhaust. Try to keep a cool cruiser with a little gas mileage behind it. He drives A LOT the following are pix of the pruposed chop. The pix for the photochop were taken before the frame and cab were positioned correctly. So please forgive the long front end in the following few pix. It was decided to do a 4 inch chop with a 2 inch cut rear window for glass proportions.
There is an awful lot of grinding and sanding left before it gets painted but for now we are moving onward toward the floor and firewall so after that I can chop the top. I will be posting updates as I get work done.
Looks like an awesome build, can't wait to see the finished product! My '37 Dodge is in my avatar (and bigger pics in my gallery). It'll be getting a 331 hemi though. The proposed chop looks good, I'll be watching that one. I'm still trying to decide what to do on mine. Pretty sure I want to chop it, but I don't want to go radical. 3-4" seems to be the ticket, would love to see another one with those dimensions.
anything past 4 inches looked awful IMO. Not going for a ratrod or any of that crap so might as well do it right.
I do not understand that very well? You mean my driveshaft will move a lot cause of the mount so I am risking having it fall out of the trans tailshaft? How is that? I do not understand. With it assembled the driveshaft bearly even moves. Hardly has any in/out or up/down movement while having 2 of us jump on it. Can you clarify a little so i better understand?
I know it is not easy to fix. But i am aware of how to do it. Thanks for the compliments and the info.
I do see what you mean. We are using truck springs that hardly move at all. I appreciate the info. I will keep that in mind.
I understand opinions. It doesn't bother me. It does bother me when someone does not practice what they preach. OR just has a ton of opinions but never shows any of their own stuff. That does bug. Hope you are not that guy.
was trying to update more often but had a set back of a broken snap on welder. Cost the same to buy a welder as it did to get parts for one. that hole is there for the futur of the steering and clutch operations. No use in building the floor there till it is done. 65 mustang radiator
