    Besides the obvious!
I'm looking at a 5 window to buy. Do the 3 windows have shorter cabs or longer doors? Or are they shorter overall? I've been looking at pictures and can't really tell. Maybe a few photos might help! If my memory's working I think Coles '36 was a 5 window to 3 window conversion....right?
The plan is for a mild chop, I'd like to align the A pillars, slant the B pillars and give the back a lot more slope. Anyone done a similar chop? Pictures would be appreciated.

  2. The 5 window coupe has shorter door than the 3-window. Not sure the exact amount but I'd bet 2-3 inches. The rear deck area is a little different too.

  3. deck lids are the same , 1/4's are the same....5 window doors are the same lenght as 4 door.....3 window doors are the same lenght as 2-doors..tops of doors are different

They are both. The doors are longer( same length as a tudor) and the top is shorter.
The panel between the deck lid and roof is longer.

I`d like to see pics of your top chop. I have not desided what to do with the top of my `35 5w yet, because I cant say I have seen many good lookin chops on a 5w. They tend to get kinda flat looking with too small quarter windows. I believe the trick is to be very modest when lowering the top.

A buddy of mine recently chopped his 36 5w, and I really like the way he went about it....

He took 1 1/2 inches out of the a pillar, and kinda "rotated" the top forward. He didnt cut anything out of the back, just made cuts so the roof could lean forward. He didnt even cut all the way across the back of it. Gave it a really cool profile, I think. It worked out something like an inch and 1/2 out of the A pillar, about an inch out of the B pillar, and like 3/4 out of the back of the quarter window, or something along those lines... I hope this makes sense....Im not very good at explaining things via a keyboard.... -J.

There is a really wicked gold/lime 35 that's chopped in Chrome and Flames magazine. I think the car is from Down under maybe? It looks really nice. {EDIT} It's from Europe and it's not chopped. But it's still bad ass! [IMG]

This is one of the few chopped 5 windows I like. This car gives me wood.

Look up Zibo's thread on chopping his '35 body. It turned out really good.

I'm not a big fan on the chop on Jeese's '36. Too much...

That Blue 5 window does look right. I've dug out some pictures of it I took at Paso last year.
I want the top to come out looking graceful and flowing with car...the back of the cab needs to match the incline of the back of the rear fenders and deck.

Check may & june street rodder. good feature on Marcel's chopping a 36. I think on a five window a cool way to go would be to use some two door sedan doors and 1/4 windows from a 40 four door. on a deluxe 40 they open like a windwing and they have the B slant built in.
