Ace, keep us posted of what happens tomorrow. I've got my fingers crossed for you. This thread lets guys like me get the thrill of the chase to buy old iron without actually getting out of my chair, and not having to explain to my wife why we have drive a thousand miles to buy another old car! Read the '1600 Mile Round Trip Results in Nothing..." thread and ask yourself if you would want a fellow Hamber to check this gem out for you before you made the trip to buy it..........NOT!!!!
i dont know....its gonna cost some big bucks or lots of time to fix that dent in the front fender!! that thing is clean!! man i hope you get it. im still waiting for my old timer to come around for his 51 merc coupe!
Ace, good luck to you on your quest for the Ford. Heck, if you get it now, you'll be ready for the Blue Suede Cruise.
Should Invite Him Tio Live With You And ... Heck Bring All Your Stuff Too.. IF THE PROPERTY IS UP FOR SALE ... GO GIVE HIM ERNEST MONEY RIGHT FRICKIN NOW .... SAY 3 GRAND BEG , BORROW , ST.....WELL JUST GET THE REST HAMB donations might be needed
Man, what a sweet vintage find! Considering it's well preserrved time capsule condition; maybe it was in a garage for sometime, then recently rolled outside, under the tarp. Do what you have to do to raise the cash-you can't let this one get away!!! Sounds like you guys hit it off with the old guy and he'll sell to you. Better than some guy who walks up with a bank roll, buys it, then drops it off at a street rod shop for a billet build up. I'd get that motor together, splash some fresh gas in it, clean the windows and hit the road just as she sits!!!
Thanks for all the support guys. I just stopped over there today, even though the guy i'm speaking with is nice, he sold the car to his brother a long time ago and it's sat there ever since. So, i'm hoping the brother is as nice as he is (because his brother is actually the seller) My guy called his brother yesterday and mentioned my chopped A and he told me his brother said, "oh great if he gets it he'll just chop it up". haha, i had to re***ure him i sure wouldn't do that. i told him about all the HAMB guys and what we drive, and how we do chop, but we also preserve too. I told him a car with that history is too cool already and doesnt' need chopped up. He said i was a good candidate because all the other guys "are old" he said haha. i told him i'd drive the wheels off that beauty. we'll see what happens. Guess he's got some slides from his trip to Bonneville in the 60s sometime too i'm dying to see!!
Take the old guy's for a spin in your car. You will have two new friends for life. I'll bet they have some very cool stories.
I think the fellow i've been chatting with would LOVE to go for a ride in the A. Sadly he's about 6'5" and even more sad he's not in best health. I do have a nice big '50 lincoln i think he'd be super comfy in Chad, i might just have to show him some of yours! except for the new fangled over head small block in there
It's considered a Hill family heirloom. Dad has been bugging me to bring it up to the shop for a speed parts display for the store. Hey, I hear you're playing here on July 5th. Libby is excited. We expect you to bring the '36. Oh, plus Indy too. Shaping up to be a good summer!
Display?!? build it up and drop it back into that '36 of yours you goof! Yeah, we'll be out in July for sure! And Indy too! Can't believe it's may already...sheesh. going by fast. hope it doesn't go too fast! Hopefully you'll see me rollin' in the '36 we'll find out in a couple weeks i guess! at the very least i'll try to cruise the '48 ford i'm working on at the moment. progress pictures will be up once i get more taken of that -ace
Well? You've left us in suspense for 2 weeks, did you get the coupe? Or do I need to start hunting this weekend?
OK...suspense over. I met with the old man and his brother this afternoon... Good news, his brother Tom (the owner of the car) is a very nice guy and "really enjoyed my enthusiasm" for flatheads and "preservation". So, with that said i'm dropping the money off tomorrow evening, with trailer in tow! Now to figure out where the hell it's going to live...guess the daily is going to live outside for a while Yes, i'll be sure to get photos of the loading and unloading!
Congrats on preserving the history! What a nice piece! Get it running and tale the gentleman for a ricde! jerry
