Ace, man I just read about the good news, congrats, nice car, great story, bitchin shirt. Couldnt have happened to a greater guy.
thanks for the kind words Chris, (and everyone else too!) i hope those gears i sent you worked out. Hey, i also have the spider gears if you need 'em. i forgot to put them in the box. Let me know!
ya blowin him nexxxxxt? haha just kiddin ya buddy im drunk an pissed the penguins lost cooool score though man and way to take care of the ol timer!!!!!
wow....i've just fired thru' this thread to see if you got it......what a result! well done dude! i'll be lucky to find anything like that here in England...
WOW ! How cool is that ! Congradulations ! I'm sure the previous owner will be very happy to go for a ride, and who the hell wouldn't like a 3-deuce set-up on a flatty ?
Thanks guys! Flop, i don't know buddy, depends on what else he's got Well, i stole the 59AB out of my running '48 project (dangit...) and stuffed that puppy in the '36 this afternoon with the help of my dad,brother-in-law, his father, and my good friend Rod... Couple things if anyone is thinking of doing this. a 59AB is pretty much a bolt in! There is a clearance problem between the fan, and the radiator. To get around that you'll need to run the 21 stud flathead generator with the fan built in (or electric, but who the hell wants to do that!). I will be getting that converted to 12V and all should be golden. Oh, that limits your use of a 3X2 manifold to a 2X2. Good enough. I'll post some photos tomorrow. now to finds some vintage speed parts, heads, intake etc.....anyone, anyone? Bueller, Bueller....
Im with Mart on this one....make an old rodder happy and take him out in it once its on the road...what a kick theyll get out of it !! Great tory and an even better ending. Fantastic stuff !! Rat
its cool its all worked out, sounds like you are more than happy with the deal you got and the brothers are happy you got the car. im sure that old paint will have shined up nice, glad to hear its being left also and you are only making small changes to the car. im sure you will have a lot of fun with it.
I have been waiting to post, but I have really been enjoying this thread. Awesome story. Keep us updated as you get it going.
billylo, i'll definitely do that. Seems like all other projects have kind of been put aside to get this one going! definitley keeping it as close to "as found" as possible. a few stance alterations and the 59AB flattie and that's about it. Plans are to drive it to the hunnert car pileup and since the younger brother tom lives in Downer's Grove, either have him drive down (he's got a 60,000 mile 55 chevy ragtop...original too) or meet him up there. more pictures are coming, i swear thanks you all! -ace
Hey, if you go to Downers, maybe I will go with you in mine. No wait, you have a month to bring it to the show in July... Looks killer in the daylight. Nice.
Hey, way to go. I'm sure that old timer will be jazzed to see his old hot rod on the road again. Great hot rod karma.
What a great find and thread! I've always loved 36 coupes . . . my second favorite behind the 34. Hopefully someday I'll be fortunate enough to own one. Keep us posted on the Flatty work!
ArtGeco, sorry, i'm not following you... here's some photos of as she sits now. gonna pull the engine out again tomorrow to clean up some of the frame a little more, and clean up the engine, and possibly re-paint the bad job the previous owner did. Anyhow, here 'tis. Also got the windshield out and at the glass shop. the radiator is at the radiator shop, in the same building as the glass shop. how convenient. jus doing a flush job, and pressure test.
hahaha!!! think it will be ready by kevins? so i can steal it in the middle of the night not if we keep sittin on here talkin about it none of our shit will be ever done
haha, of course it will. this is our inspiration. Dude, i hope to have this beast up and running in a couple weeks truthfully. i think i'm going to just get the mech. brakes working good again so i can drive it down the road and make sure the tranny shifts and all that jazz before anything. Then, i'll start taking the front end apart to drop the axle, and reverse the eyes on the spring. oh yeah, new tires would help too...
Wow, the car looks freakin awesome buffed out just how it sits! Amazing, can't wait to see some pictures of it driving down the road... Congratulations on the score! Rich
Glad to see you got it Ace!! That thing is really in good shape. I hope to see it on the road this summer. What town are you near?
