I have been thinking about buying a 5 window that is pretty straight but needs all patch panels motor tranny etc. The guy wants 4500.00. Yesterday a different guy came over and says he knows where one is that the chassis is fully restored and can drive away but all the body is off the chassis and is suppost to be rust free and extremly straight and he thinks the guy will take 8000.00-10,000.00 for it.i dont have pics yet im going to look at it on saturday. What do you guys think is the best route.

They both sound like great deals to me.

  4. Talk the 8k one down to 4500. Give him the bad economic times line.

What are your skills with a welder? If the answer is so-so or none, you might think seriously about spending the bigger bucks now as opposed to settling for something that will intimidate the shit out of you. Of course, I'm REALLY good at spending other people's money. I wouldn't wait too long though. Last I heard, 36 Ford coupes were kind of desirable. As in, if you have the means, buy both and sell one in a year or two for double what you paid to help finance the rest of the build.

always buy the most complete , advanced car you can.

8000 for a restored 36 chassis and a solid body is cheap.

Did you ever hear of anyone marking up the money they spent on labour, when selling an incomplete project? i thought not.

  9. preacher has a 36 coupe. I believe it is still for sale. look it up in classified section. He had it on Egay recently but don't think it sold..
