How do you identify a '36 roadster/coupe drivers' rear fender from the sedan version? Any help with measurements and/or pictures would be great. Thank You.
This link will take you to Wescott's catalog. It shows the tail section of all of the fenders. http://www.wescottsauto.com/WebCatalog/pdf-ford-fender/1935-36Fenders.pdf Jeff
Here's some pix of a 36 coupe next to a 35 coupe the 36 has the tail light stand hole hope this helps Tom
The grey fender in the above pictures appears to be from a SEDAN not a coupe as stated. (it's too narrow, has wrong mounting hole spacing and the indent on the rear inside lip is too short). It does however show exactly what the original poster wanted to know - how to tell sedan fenders from coupe/roadster.
Both fenders bolt to my dads 3 window. They are NOT sedan we also have a set of sedan. I know the differences
yea, the '35 are a little wider and have less of a ridge. but the answer to the question is the sedan are narrower (closer to the body).
Donut29, If you think for a second that the grey fender will fit onto a 35-36 coupe you're dreaming in Technicolor - and I would love to see a picture of it. The pictures you've posted of it and the 1935 fender show all of the differences between sedan and coupe/roadster/cabriolet fenders - the width of the fender, the number and spacing of mounting holes on the front and upper lip (coupe has 7 holes, sedan has 8) and the size of the rear inside edge indent/mounting flange. How many mounting holes are on the rear inside flange of this fender - 2 ?? The flanges on the coupe fenders are much longer and have 3 holes on the left side fender and 4 on the right (check it out on your 35 coupe fender). Again, I'd love to see a few more pictures of this fender - especially ones of it mounted to a coupe/roadster/cabriolet body.
Since both 35 and 36 fenders do interchange on either year body you must have made a slight mistake, likely in selcting the wrong photo from the computer file to use as illustration. Hey it happens, no biggie.
