    Amazing car you have there.
Are you planning on setting the gas tank in the stock position ?

WOW! The attention to detail and the quality of your work in every aspect of this build is amazing. I am so looking forward to seeing it in person. I'll try not to drool on anything. I didn't think it could get better than the bare metal version but I was wrong.

Kip..... did this car help with your decision on color? I know you seen it on the salt..... maybe not quite the same color but close.

The reason the pics don't show up in the app is because Kipp loads them to his album first then links them over. Doing so has some effect on the app. I don't know if @Ryan is aware that this is an issue, or if it can be fixed.

Ditto Kip...... I WILL see it soon.

  8. Yes. But the filler will be in the trunk in a housing vented to the outside.

  9. Thanks.
Thanks. I wasent sure at firs weather to paint her but I am glad I did.

  10. Maby a little she is far more impressive in person than can be imagined. I was looking for an elegant dark color that wasent black and maroon was the only choice. Come by and see her anytime you know where I live!

  11. Makes sense I suppose. I had a hard time even loading pic's until Brady and Ryan showed me how. I blame them two for all the problems! Thanks Eric.

  19. Good luck. While mocking up my project I was thinking about you and how stressful it will be to get all the fenders installed without mucking up that beautiful paint job. I guess since you've put the fenders on and off countless times that you have a plan. Good luck!!

    loecoe,
I've been thinking about the same thing, as I'm approaching the paint phase of my '36. I'm leaning towards painting the unseen areas of both the fenders & body, then hanging the fenders on loosely without welting and then painting the whole enchilada as one unit. After the paint is dried, sanded & buffed, tighten everything together.

What do you (or anyone) think about that approach ?

Kipp, We must think alike, As I also sprayed bed liner on the inside of all my fenders, however I did mine prior to final prime and paint. It feels like the stuff doubled the weight of the fenders and added considerably to their rigidity, my front fenders don't ring like a bell anymore. I bet some will think they are plastic fenders now. I had mine done by a pro-bedliner shop that had me prep the undersides with a 50 grit scuffing. We for sure won't have to worry about getting rock "stars" in our fenders, but I just hope the stuff hold up.
Are you going to be ready for the Round-Up? I'm hoping to ship mine out of here toward the end of the month.
Best Regards and good luck with all your endeavors, KB.

That seems like a good approach to minimize handling of the fenders and risk of chipping after final paint, however, it makes it nearly impossible to get adequate coverage in the nooks and crannies that there are so many of on a 36 ford. The worst place is where the tail of the front fender bolts to the base of the cowl. The sweeping bulge in the fender there won't let you get the gun down in there for adequate coverage without loading too much material to the cowl and fender. Also when doing the buffing, it would be difficult to get right up to the seams without risking burning the adjoining surfaces. It's better to separate them from the body and just be very careful during assembly.
Best regards and good luck with all your endeavors, KB.

Very good point - I appreciate the insight.

Also didn't mean to hi-jack this thread. I should start another one for the subject.................................

On another note, I found that, for me, at least, assembling the inner, louvered panel & upright to the front fender of my '36, and then assembling it as a unit, is a LOT easier then building it up, one piece at a time.

  25. One fender down one to go on the rear. After putting them on and off so many times I can do it in my sleep and even though it is more important now during final priming I had to be very carefull. As KB stated the benafits of not dealing with hanging the fenders is far outweighed b the extra effort in paint polish etc. The rears have become easy with practice. Hopefully the fronts will be the same.

  26. Don't know if I will be ready for LSR or not. I hope so but running out of time.
I lined the onderside of the fenders on my International years ago and it worked and held up wonderfull. This time should be the same.
    Later Kipp.

  27. Thanks Leo.

  28. Today I installed the rear fenders and trunk lid. I jacked up the rear and pulled the tires. Then I got the fender welt out. I dident want to use welt but there was a small spot that I couldent get flawless so I ordered some welt from Sacramento Vintage Ford that is small and feels like suede leather. I marked and punched holes for the bolts.
Then I set the rear of the fender on a large block and started bolting from the center forward and then set the bolts from the center rearward. Then I tightened the fender and installed the brace. Then I done the same on the passanger side. After tightening the other fender I installed the bumper brackets and then I glued the seal to the inside of the deck lid and installed it. The rear end is coming togather nicely.
