My dad is working on his 36 ford (His first car) We put a newer flathead in it. We are considering converting to 12 volt mainly because it is easier to find 12 volt starters, generators, batteries etc. The issue we are facing is that the gauges are positive ground and the newer 12 volt stuff is negative ground. Is there a way to use the original gauges? Is there a work around? The car is not bone stock but built to drive and enjoy, Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

The gauges work on negative ground.

if you go negative ground, reverse the wires on the amp meter

  4. The 6V starter works just fine on 12V.
