Projects 36 ford

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by 1949daveplymouth, Jul 15, 2024.

  1. I just picked up this 36 ford. Very excited about it. I want to keep it as original as I can I’m going to be getting an aluminum radiator. I want to change it to 12 volt but would like to keep the generator just convert it to 12 volt

  3. First thing put your general location in your profile!!

The last time I had the same situation it was with my '37. If I remember correctly (it has been about 40 years) the best solution was to use a generator from a '39 standard as the fan mounted on the front of the generator and it came with a regulator. The '36 came with a 3 brush generator like the Model A Ford. Although not stock you might have some luck persuading this on fordbarn.

38 also has the good 2 brush generator or 39 standard like Charlie said
Large front bearing to carry the fan
You can put 56 field coils in it and add a voltage regulator and you have a great setup on a 36
