I am in the process of mocking up my 29 Tudor AV8 project. the plan is a 351W attached to a 4sp toploader linked to a 9" in a boxed Model A frame z'd the height of the frame rails. The body will be channeled 4" and choppped 3". I was planning on using a set of 36 rear radius rods attached to the 9" and since the body is channeled over the frame - I was going to attach the rods to the inside of the frame instead of the outside. Any pit falls to this? It seems it would work fine but in the past I have attached them to the outside of the frame. Or am I better off attaching the radius rods to a cross member which I could add to the frame?
I like the mount to the inside of the frame it helps when you channel the car not having to cut the body all up. On my old roadster 30 ford. I ran a 28 to 34 spring with the 35 36 bones in the rear so I could channel it super low. the ride was the same as putting them on the outside of the frame. handled like a dream. cornering was awesome. I even forgot the panhard and it was fine. go for it .drew
I would attach them to a crossmember. Also when going under a car (especialy a low one) you have to watch your clearance to the floorboard. Later, Mark
Im not sure I understand how you want to mount them. You say inside the frame rail, will this be a super low car? is the axle end of the wishbone going to be near the outsides of the axle ( so you can use a buggy spring ), or are they going to be parralel to the frame, running inside of it? And if so, what are you going to do for X members?
