Any body have any hints, suggestions, ideas on making a Tudor door into a 3W coupe door. I have some extra 5W coupe doors with decent tops for donor pieces. I bought a shitload of 36 parts and want to piecetogether a 3 window. ( Ford )
Check this out,,it has been done,,,I kept this thread because I still can't get over this guys skills! HRP http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=222004&highlight=36+window+from+sedan
There's a 35 and a 36 coupe in classified today, both are priced in the $5 to $6 grand range, think about your time man! Sell the sedan and buy the coupe, and you'll be drivin before you know it!
I don't have a sedan body, just sedan doors and many 5w coupe body parts and rear body section of a fordoor sedan. I'm going to put a 5w coupe body together. With the leftover parts I want to piece together a 3w coupe. I enjoy putting something together from nothing. I have more time than money.
Yeah , I'm subscribed to that thread and a few other 35-36 builds. A lot of people here on the HAMB have amazing skills.
Are the widths the same? Couldn't you just use the front door pillar from an extra door (swapped to the opposite side) to eliminate the square window opening that the sedan had, would that match the 3W roof shape? Just thinking out loud.
I admire you for starting this project, guess the Model A project got you started. I'm still looking for the photos of the rear clip you got from me. I started picking out 35-36 body parts at Hershey last year in the hopes of having a 3Window starter kit. By the time I'd located a fair amount, and went back to the first item it was sold, along with all the other bits. There has to be an army of 35-36 3Window builders out there.
Hi Bob, I plan on having the A coupe yard driving this summer. Hope to have a 36 5 window at least tacked together and mocked up on the frame. Also would like to have a 36 3 window mocked up on a frame. I'm also using the 35 frame I got from you.
You got the '35 frame from me? I'd forgotten were it went, that was a nice item that came out of a street rod that got updated with an aftermarker chassis.
Is there a HAMB link to the '36 5Window that Cole turned into a 3Window? I know the finished car is in The Rodders Journal.
All the builds I've looked at use 3 window door tps on the tudor sedan door. I want to know if someone has used the right front door top front on the left door and vice versa.
i think the B pillar section of the door top is thicker then the A pillar section I was slightly considering doing this "conversion" on my 5 window but decided against it.... happen to have any 35 humpback right side tailights????
there is the one from Sweden or Finland that a guy took a tudor and made it a 3 window coupe.it is the Maroon one with the pics of it in the snow....
Stay tuned and you will see this become a three window. http://jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300942 the two doors are the same and what you do is take the begining of the window frame of the left door, cut it off a the belt line and reinstall it on the right door at the end where it meets the quarter panel. Hopefully in a few weeks I will have photos of this or you can look at rod and custom feature of the red 3 window mentioned above. The feature was in june 2008 or look at street rodder may 2004 and june 2004 too see marcels chop and 3 window. Hope this all helps.
if you take the front of the opposite side you still need to releif cut it to get it to fit the opening properl, i just got my hacked up 3 window from an old farmer .they just no how to get things done they dont really care what they look like thats how he did the doors on my car they are ruff so im looking for some other doors to start out with
This is mine, stock and uncut at this point. Cant really help with your questions but if you need some patterns or ……………………………...............................................?
