Tony and I worked together, where we had our daily bench racing / BS-ing sessions which were amazing. Tony's p***ing will leave a hole in many people's lives. RIP buddy

I had to give up donuts due to blood sugar issues but I'll have one in his honor at the donut shop where Tony, Chick and the rest of us hodlums met every Saturday morning. Won't be the same without Tony but maybe we'll organize a cruise in his honor in the coming weeks. Miss you Tony. RIP.

  5. Went to the Glendale Community College Swap Meet Sunday morning, was supposed to meet the guy that sold me a set of 4.56:1 gears for a Ford 9”….. I know, you shouldn’t take what’s written on the box as what’s in the box, but all I did was look at the ring gear and glance at the pinion gear to verify that they were new and not torn up. Probably should have noticed there wasn’t a stub shaft for a pinion support bearing, but hey, it was warm and I’d been drinking refreshments! No harm, guy said he’d meet me Sunday, he’d be there till about 9:30, and swap them out, somehow the boxes got mixed up, no harm, no foul! Wife and I get to the swap meet and call the dude and ask him where he’s at, and he tells me he’s 1/2 way home, already been there for 3 hours and was done! Wow! I didn’t realize his name was Richard! He had my number! My lovely wife suggested we go see him, ya, that would end well! So instead we cruised the swap meet to see what we could find. She found a nice square cast iron frying pan, thought it would work great for teaching manners and right and wrong to some people, and make yummy grilled cheese sandwiches later. And I found a set of primo M/T SBC valve covers that somehow nobody hadn’t knocked out the holes on! 2A73269A-4E10-4D3B-8949-F7E147146798.jpeg Somebody posted this picture on a thread a couple years back and I really liked how these looked with the tall Moon breathers, so, yup, I’m plagiarizing them!

I’m thinking this will look great on the 327 with the old dual quad intake and fender well headers. Anybody know anything about Midway Speed and the Ignition Magician? Sounds cool!

  6. Still gathering parts for my g***er, thanks to @1934coupe one more piece is here. He had a Pont/Olds Safe-T-Track pumpkin for sale on the HAMB Cl***ifieds. Had all the good stuff, 4.88:1 gears, billet yoke and carrier cap, limited slip differential, and the good 2nd series case. After a couple messages back and forth, he must have taken pity on me and agreed to ship it all the way across this great country of ours, Thanks 1934coupe! The crate he built could have made the trip to Australia, it was so stout! 05305EDD-FE12-47D5-B41A-38711332015F.jpeg After removing 20 or so screws I got to check out this gem.

It was exactly as he promised, maybe even better cuz it’s now mine!

Somehow I was able to shoehorn it into a spare Strange 9” storage case for safe keeping, now I need some better axles!
Thanks again to 1934coupe and the HAMB!

Silver, what year drop-in is that for? I have a brand new in the box set of Zoom 4:11 gears for a Pontiac/Olds rear. I have to look, but I think they are 1958 to 1964? PM me if you might be interested. Bill

  8. Got another piece of the puzzle yesterday thanks to the power of the HAMB! @RatPwrd found a guy in SoCal who had a pair of 37/38 Coupe doors with all the window mechanisms that I need for my g***er. (Wife wasn’t very keen on going for a cruise in a car with no rolldown windows!) They’re a little rusty, but all the stuff I need looks pretty good for 85 years old! I also hauled a floor pan back to Arizona for RatPwrd, he’s wanting some pieces for his 37 G***er he’s building. I’ve seen his, when you all get a chance to see it, you’ll be blown away, it’s not your average car, very cool, especially the old suspension stuff!
I know, where’s the pictures?! Got to unload the truck but I’m still beat after 14 hours and 850 miles yesterday!

You were in SoCal on Saturday and didn't stop in for Lug Nuts and Donuts at Karen's Donuts or did you and I just missed you?

  10. Only made it to Oak Hills, guy with the 37 parts drove up from Fullerton and met me. Saved me 4 hours of driving, ye-ha! I still was on the road from 6:30 till 9:00 Saturday. I definitely am not as young as I once was!

Yeah, that's a grueling drive... I ran between Sacramento and Chino Valley 4 times this year and it's tough. Rte 40 gets pretty wicked ... but when you're on a mission, especially draggin' home parts for your car, it's all worth it!

  14. Wow! Once again the power of the HAMB kicks ***! I post that I just got a rear differential for my g***er project and @akoutlaw asks me if I need any other gears. Less than a month later Unobtanium is sitting in my mailbox! Brand new, never ran, Zoom 4.10:1 gears, still in the original box!

I also got the instructions, I’m posting them also in case someone might need them.

Just realized that maybe a thread with old speed gear instructions might be a good idea. Is there one already? Really want to thank Ryan for having this site, how would I have found any of this stuff on my own?
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, hug the ones ya love!
