One more , built in the mid to late 60's in Spokane , Wash . First time out of storage since 1970 . Soon to be back up and running w/ 331 4 speed 5.13 olds . Fellow that built it (Laurie) was killed in a drag boat wreck late 1969 . Car was raced a little at Deer Park Dragstrip ( Wash.) Don't know too much more than that. Doug
Did someone say more ? Did you notice the tinted blue glass ? Done with rattle can tint back in the day , instrument panel glass also . And the rear fenders were painted white on the inside . The trick set up in '68.
Here's my newest project. I love these cars , been working on it lately need to take some new pictures. My dad has a '38 coupe that he has raced since the sixties.Jimmy (GMC) 6 302 bored to 321. 5 speed.Straight axle, now runs on the street.i'll try and get pic's from him.His car was on the cover of Street Rod magazine years ago.I got to take it down the strip at Englishtown NJ at a Nostalgia Nats. my first run in a straight axle car that was a memory I'll never forget.Way cool.
My old 37 from the 70's, 396, turbo 400, 12 bolt Camaro rear (all from the junkyard!).Candy blue with an Ai one piece fiberglass nose. Been trying to buy it back from the current owner for a while now. Be some work to put it back though, was Pro streeted with a Mustang II in the 90's by the guy I sold it to.
...here's my 37, finally on the road after owning it for over 15 & 1/2 years; it's a poser tho, 283/glide...I'm just glad it's runnin/drivin...I built it like I would've in '65 or '66. I just like the look.
No pics, I post some remorseful regrets not snagging the 38 I targeted a few months ago, it was a vintage build 427 4-speed with rolled white interior. I understand its new owner is already revamping the car. However, there was a real nice blue gasser with Radir wheels at the Timonium, Md. December show. Talked to the owner quite some time, he is in the Deadmans Curve car club out of Jersey with the Radir wheel crowd, those guys put together some awesome gassers.. There should be pics of that show on here and the blue 38 will show up!
Bumping this up. Does anyone know of or have a photo of a '37 pickup 'Gasser'? I think it would be a pretty cool thing!
