My steering box has been sitting in a builders shop since February. He retired a week ago and said come get it. I'm looking for someone to build my shortened colum box maybe in the Midwest?? Thank you
I bought all the bearings seals and the bushings for my 39 box and did it myself, it was really easy. Just had to get the bushing honed to size for the sector shaft.
I just talked to an old builder up here. He said he has had limited success with the worm gear shaft replacement... Does anyone have pictures from a ford manual ?
@NealinCA can do them. He does F-1 style (actually manufactures his own) but the internals from the wartime p***enger car is the same.
Getting the worm on and off the shaft is not a big deal if you have a good strong two jaw puller, and a couple home made fittings to make it work. Good info here from dennis lecy, sorry, cant remember where the steering box part is, but you can find it https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1932-pickup-rebuild-thread-updated-1-11-16.970252/
