I have a Chris Craft steering box that really is a Gemmer 37-48 Ford part. I bought it because I thought it had a cool looking mount that fits well inside a Model A frame rail. The problem is the pitman arm rotates in the wrong direction for a drag link application. I need the pitman arm to hang down, and rotate clockwise when the steering wheel is turned counter clockwise. I purchased a right hand worm gear from C&G Auto parts that has the teeth wound in the other direction to resolve this issue. I pressed the worm gear and shaft together and installed it, but the sector shaft refuses to seat in the box. C&G doesn't show a right hand sector, so I assume all the parts should be compatible. Have any of you guys in Australia had to deal with a right hand worm gear installation in an old Ford steering box? What am I missing?

I believe you'll find you need a right hand sector too !
Look at the teeth, they have an angle to them.

Does anyone know where I can find a right hand sector for a 37-48 Ford steering box?

Did you put an ad in the classifieds? I'd think there would be very little market for the leftover RHD parts after guys build hotrods out of Aussie cars.
