Man- the 37 looks great I can't wiat to see the rear roof methods . . . I think this car has the same turret top shape as my 35 olds. Good idea to leave the front pilar slope the same as stock. . .its really the back that needs to lay down a bit on these roofs i think

The rear shot of this car is awesome. the tail end with the chop and the skirts with that long tail really looks great.

I commend the others who have stepped up and said how poor it is to weld without pretection. We are never as tough as we think we are when it comes to sfaety. I suffer from constant ringing in my ears from cutting aluminum extrusion without ear plugs and it was just plain not smart.

Car really looks great for those of us that still have eyes.

Don't want to hi-jack the thread. I just posted that to give him another idea to think about. My '38 isn't ready for the H.A.M.B. yet, but I'll post pics when it is. In the meantime, I'm getting some good ideas from everyone on here.

    Thanks a lot guys.
I was so psyched to get going on the 37. I've been throwing the ideas around in my head since I picked it up a year ago, and it's starting to look just like I imagined. Dave is definately the right guy to do the chop on it for me. You should check out his website if you haven't, there's a bunch of other work's of art on there that he's done.
I'm not going to tell you guys everything just yet, you'll have to wait for the updates, but you can get the basic idea from what you've seen so far. You may remember my C-dan build updates this past year. I will end up boring the **** out of you with pics and updates on this build also. It's my way of putting something back into the HAMB.
    Thanks, LSM

Man I nearly ****ped me britches when I laid my eyes on those pics! Dave, I gotta hand it to you, that is the best chop I have ever seen on that body style bar none. Perfect flow! Now you're gonna have a big weight on your shoulders to follow through with the build, but after looking at your other work, I'm sure it will be no problem. I know its not my place, but I would mould the front fenders into the running boards, bobb out the lower rear, and leave off the rear bumper. Oh well, its not my build, I can only dream. Looking foward to more eyecandy!

Yea I've been talking to a bunch of people about bagging it. I think I know where it's going, but I'm not positive yet. Trust me, I'll be in touch with you shortly!
How's the sedan coming now that your back from Daytona? You needed that breather. Any new updates from your garage?

Here are some update pics hot off the press today. Dave had a busy day today and made some real good progress. It's amazing what he can get done without the phone ringing off the wall!!

I love how intact the quarter windows stayed. To me, thats a big part of the 37's look, plus the way the roof flows into the trunk.

I'm real happy with the chop and the lines. Dave worked it in exactly how I envisioned it orig****ly and now I'm glad that the stanted windshield post I was thinking about didn't work out. These next couple of pics really shows the overall lines.

    Hey,

Can someone explain to the dumb guy(me), why the filler strip was
added in the middle of the turret top, and not back above the back-
light, or through the sail panels, since welds would have to be made
in those areas to move the roof foward anyway?
I'm not tryin ta fling ***** matter, or nutin', your way works, and works
well. Is jus' my brain det ain't gettin it. Can someone splain?

    Thanx,

ok this is hard to explain.. the roof needed to get longer to keep the shape of the 1/4 windows. if i streched it in the sail panels the roof woulds get taller..

Keith, I agree. Keeping those quarter windows looking stock makes all the difference. Those are what make a 37-38 Chevy coupe unique. In fact, that whole chop is awesome because it looks stock.
    Nice work,Dave.

I wouldn't mind seeing this car "in bare metal" like that '36 that Cole is doing for Kirk Hammet.

Dave, don't worry about your eyes. I don't seem to function too well tacking **** together with a helmet on either. When we are blind we can still make a living giving m***ages with our hands. The callouses from working on cars will increase the friction level so that minimal effort will have to be applied to acheive a "happy ending".
