Dave was pretty concerned with what you had said to him the other day. But being the country boy he is (Dave says he's a city boy, but Peabody? come on!!) ,what Plowboy said kind of struck a nerve with Dave also, if you know what I mean!
Any ways, the guys at the garage were pretty worried about Dave and wanted to do the right thing, so we took up a collection and made enough to get Dave some professional Training on Safety Gear and general Shop Safety. Dave took the wad of cash and off he went to the big city last week for his training.
Being wednesday night at the garage, Dave was dyng to show off to the boys what he learned. I don't know about you, but I'm starting to think that Dave nebver made it to the training. In fact, there was that ever familiar smell of strawberry purfume in the garage.

Dave said they passed out this safety gear as part of the class.


And this is his new special shielding and guarding techniques he's using to fill the split in the roof.


I'm not sure, but I think he screwed us out of the collection money, cause I know for a fact they would never teach you to weld in a nylon jacket! He's not fooling this city guy!

Here he's working on his calluses for his garage bitches Fred & Tristin. Christmas is coming and they'll be expecting a little something under the tree!


It flows pretty nice with only one quick coat of marglass.

It looks really good - especially once it's skimmed.

So what is the technology here? It appears that you did all of the sail panel work with relief cuts and hammer and dolly work. . . no english wheel? Or is there a new piece in the middle of all that that I am not seeing?

I am definitely chopping my olds the same way - leaving the windshield angle and re-sloping the back . . . it looks like you got rid of that stock small kink below the rear window real nicely in the last photos.

Shane, It's been all Dave's work by himself at this point. He's doing the chop for me and then I'll pick up the rest of the build from there. Yea, he's getting it done right! This build is going to take me a little longer than that shit box C-dan I threw together!

 

The car's looking great Keith. Man, You don't waste time talking about doing something, you just go and do it. Your sedan is a good example of that. You say you're going home and work on the new frame and a few days later you post pics of it all welded up. You must have the "Honey Do" list down to one page.


By the way, Ted said he's going to work on my hood this week. I can't wait for it to be done. It's winter and I need my winter hood.

 

Yea Paul, The list is to a point where I can start hanging in the garage again and get some things done. I've got a few things to do on the sedan that I never got a chance to do last year, but then it's on to the coupe. I'm psyched!!

And by the way, I'm not sure if you understand Teds lingo. When he said he's going to work on your hood this week, what he was saying was that he's going to work on your hood this week...next year. I hope that clears things up for you so you're not dissapointed. See you at Ted's.

Another week has gone by, so here's some update pic's from last night in the Paras Garage.
Things are moving along on the chop. The only thing left for rough work is to finish filling the roof on one side and one door.

Here's a few shots of the finished side. It still needs hammering, but you get the idea. It looks a lot better in person, the reflection from the light makes it look a lot wavier than it is.






The Jerkury's out front getting in the way of a good picture as usual. I wouldn't mind if it was a decent ride!


Daves brother Dan got suckered into working on Tristen's (smooth50 on the right) new steering wheel for his chevy p/u project. Dave just got finished putting a vette clip in it.


Back to the important shit...

Here Dave's getting going on filling the rest of the roof. First he cut the piece that came out of the A-pillar to tie in the drip edge. Then was moving on to filling the gap with sheet stock. Put some horizontal slice in the roof to blend it all together front and back.




I saved this next pic for last.

I have heard (and seen) the garage bitches treat Dave almost like he is a god. Why? I have no idea. Does he have something on them? I mean he does nice work and all, but a god, come on!!
But I tell you after last night I'm starting to wonder if their on to something. Maybe it's cause X-Mas is coming or something like that, but when I was going through the pictures from last night to size them, I do think there is something going on here. I swear there is a halo over Daves head...do you see it??
I still say Daves got something on those bitches...maybe it was the sheep in the mainger down on the green????
