here is my 37chevy i bought it for $1000, from my uncle, the specs SBC 350 600 cfm holley blockhuggers edlebrock high rise maniforld all steel body Munsie 4spd( i think thats how you spell it)with the old ****tershield from the 60's 46-49 pontiac rear end straight axle traction bars 1968 Mags this is what i got when we trailered it home the wheels are mags bought in 68, still have the (fibergl*** belted tires) i got this SBC 350, for $300 from my dads friend, i believe it came out of 71-72 chevelle I wanted to keep it old school, so i kept the straight axle( plus couldn't afford a independent anyways) theres a 327 that my dad has for his future project heres the inside from awhile back ( no power steering is hard ) this is when we were done taking it on the first drive this a 3 year build for me, and im still not done, i just got to drive it again at billetproof in Antioch this year this is me and my girlfriend hope you guys like it
well, i need to align the front end, put new rear end gears, new clutch, do some body work, pretty much that, finish the interior
welcome, I agree the steering takes a "little" effort with the stock front end..keepus updated on the progress.
sweet cut offs, and thats *****in place to put your cigs, i would of never thought to roll them up in my sleeve. most people just put them in there pockets, but i guess that doesnt show off the cool fact that they smoke.
Nice ride. The car would steer a little, a lot, easier if you reduce the tire size up front width wise. Find an original shop manual and adjust the steering box per the instructions, pull all the grease zerks, clean them out and grease the front end, kingpins, tierod ends etc. Check alignment. I don't mean buy new wheels simply buy new tires which are narrower than the ones you have.
Ignore the ball busters.........you're the future of hot rodding! I've had four '37 Chevys and currently have a '37 Sports Coupe (rumble seat). I love the style of them. You did a great job on yours - congratulations!
Your Uncle gave you a pretty sweet deal there and you did a good job on it. As was said before, get some skinny wheels and tires up front and you won't need power steering. Nice car.
You got a sweet geal there. You did a nice job sofar.....looks good. Unfortunately, being a car guy, and having a car like that....you will never be done with it, your mind will always be working, even after you get it exactly the way you like it. Good luck with the car..and simply enjoy it
ya lets just put it this way, you dont have to put 10 bucks in the tank to drive her lol, ya my dad does that, because hes a truck driver, so he cant sit on them, so i did it too well im glad you live in so cal, and i live in nor cal ya but those tires, are OLD, from the 60's so i want to keep them as long as possible, but ya im going to do some stuff to the front this weekend
Nice car..can't believe the simialarities with our cars, same wheels, guages in the same place, beam axle, smallblock Chevy, etc.... Mine uses a 65 Malibu manual steering box with a cross-steer set-up, steers real easy, but I mite have narrower front tires than you too. Here's a pic ...
x37x you'll done one fine job!! Rusty1 you've helped me decide what type wheels to use on my 37! 2 killer cars thanks for posting.
Nice car! Those '37 coupes are just gorgeous, and yours looks great. I'd also advise skinnier fronts - for easier steering and a bit more "period correct" g***er look. Believe me, you don't know how lucky you are. I sold my '37 g***er about 40 years back, and am still regretting it. I was about your age, and figured I'd have a dozen more before I "grew up." I'm 65 now and another one never came along. Don't let it go of it. P.S. Its "Muncie" - as in Muncie, Indiana - where G.M. built that particular ******.
