Hey guys, I've been reading this old Tech Article done by Samlyam about wishbone suspension in a car with open drive. I have a '37 rearend that I plan on using (converting it to open drive of course), but I'm curious if they '37 radius rods are strong enough, or if I should try to find some '35/'36 radius rods.
shaun here's a set I made and installed on a 34 coupe just add a top bar and a gusset and they are plenty strong. You can use them as is as long as you run a torque arm from the rear to a center member or tie them together with a ball joint or heim at the front.. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Thanks for the help! I think I'll leave them as-is and then run a torque arm from the center section, that should be the easiest. Hey Ray, how's your roadster coming?
Yep, the year of the radius rods do not make a difference, it is the lack of an additional rod to the upper side of the axle to replace the support function of the torque tube that is the issue.
Haven't started on the T yet Shaun . Replace a blown clutch and the trans in my 28. Hope to start the T in the next few weeks , I most of the parts. Good luck with your build, let me know if you need anything -Ray Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
