Finishing touches on the rear end.
Waiting on a new leaf spring for the front end.
Doors + cab off to the blaster. Will be chopping and patching upon return.
Driver side exhaust being worked on and then motor off to be rebuilt.
Sourcing tri-power set up as we speak.

Is this the final height of the rear end? The pic makes it look like it's way uphill from the transmission. Maybe it's just the perspective. Great Build!

It's the angle of the pic haha yea...
If you go back to the first page and scroll down a little you'll see some descent mock ups.
It's going to have an aggressive rake, but mostly relies on the illusion of an aggressive rake!!!
So far this thing is spot on!!!

    Great looking build!
An S-10 5 speed? Have you checked the gear ratio's for that tran's, most are really low geared in 1st. great for a Flatty but a 348? Seems you know what you want, just curious is all!

Well, yes your right!!! I stumbled on it for very cheap.
Had the adapter plate, bell housing, new clutch, flywheel and a mechanical speedo.....so I jumped on it.
It won't be as aggressive as a Muncie 4 speed, but after discussing things with my builder, we figured it'll do.
Found some good read on the popularity of S10 5s use on hot rods.
The truck will have taller tires than an S10, so that'll offset the gear ratio a little.
5th gear overdrive for better highway speed with lower rpm and to improve my fuel consumption. ;):D
That's as far as I know. If further mods are necessary, I guess I'll let my builder and motor shop figure it out...lol

Been reading up and shopping around for my 348 motor soon to head to the shop and be taken apart and cleaned.
I am super stoked to have found a wicked tri-power set up from a very good source in excellent condition.
It's an early 1958 tri intake with 3x Rochester 2gc carbs which will need some rebuilding. Few parts and linkage and we are good to go.

Moving along nicely. A little 'radical', but so was my first roadster.
Like a 'first pair of shoes', I could 'Never get back into it now....'

    Haha
Radical is a good thing...makes for new visions, changes perception and sets new standards!!!

But really, the truck is pretty much in line with the inspirational trucks. As it stands it seems more aggressive than in real life. Stick around for the finally. I think you'll approve!!! ;)

A little close up look at the 1965 Bronco rear axle 9" after stripping and final mounts welds.

66 bronco rear. They didn't make one in 65.
Is it straight? They were notorious for bending under any kind of use. The later ones 70+ were better.

    Yes your right.
But back then the next years car models went on sale in Sept. or Oct. The first year produced was '65 for the '66 year.
These parts were cast earlier than that so the cars could be built in time for the sale date.
Well that's what I was told anyways and the date that came scribbled on it says '65 (it could be a '66 smeared...lol)
I ran into the same thing with the tri-power factory intake. It's dated 1957 and considered the earliest ones made for the '58 year.
I see a trend here lol
As far as I am concerned it's straight yes sir!!!

Some delay here waiting for the cab to come back from blast and Howell front cowl patch parts.
In the meantime I was messing around with an app to try an digi-mock what the cab chop and adding a skirt on the bed would look like. And I like it, the proportions come to life, no more phone booth cab look. This was made just for fun while I wait....Lol
(*Note: the motor is not mounted here, it is resting behind the car)

Just a suggestion, notch frame rails for front spring clearance. Easier to do it now than find out later that it needs to be done.

  22. Your truck looks great...you have a lot accomplished..I took 3.5 inches out of my 36 Ford and kept the back window useable by "Z" cutting the window area and taking a 1 3/4" band around the beltline area...a little more work but I like to see what's behind me.
Also I would "c" notch the front axle area...at least on the inside frame rail..It is nice to have a low but non-banger front end especially with you running that heavy bitchin' "W" motor....lakes headers are gonna be something special.

Thank you mrharley51, we were planning on keeping the rear window larger as well.
Got a stock style Model A cross member. It will have the inside notch however! :)

So it's been a little while since I've posted. The missing patch parts had to be sourced out somewhere else.
Thanks to C&G Early Ford Parts who had them on the shelf they got here fast. Cab has been blasted and I'm happy to report that it held up pretty well....no major deterioration. Welding the new manufactured patch parts this week I hope!!!
And I had the pleasant surprise that my frame is all welded up in it's final stage and parts got paint.

A peak at the tri power intake. It's an early '58 (manufactured in '57) like new with 3x 2GCs Carbs to be rebuilt. Got the whole set up for an amazing price from a gentleman on 348-409 Forum.

Sorry been a while. Waiting on parts etc....
The 348 motor if off at the shop for rebuild. Pic of that to follow.
Here are some patch pics. These parts are horrible and don't fit well. So you'll excuse the work, but I can assure you once finished, it will look mint.
Should be doing the cab chop next few week or so...

Looks great. I going to have to replace my rockers when I get the money for the paint job. Is there a replacement part I can buy that goes in the area with the red arrow is in the pic 1937 Rocker Panels 2.jpg ? Thanks.

Zippi, I'm no expert, but that will most probably be cheaper for you to fab rather than buy. These parts aren't cheap.
If it's for a channeled cab than no for sure.

    This is who makes them:

My whole floor will be fab'ed

It's a stock cab. Really wish I had the tools and ability to do the work myself but I don't. Your 37 is coming along nice. Thanks for the link but couldn't seem to find what the part might be that I need.
