37 ford windshield knob

hello all i have a 37 ford coupe would anyone know how to hold the windshield regulator knob on, i read C clips, snap ring, even glue, i didnt try glue but tryed the others they failed please help thanks

 

There is a groove in the handle that takes an E-clip that is thicker than the standard ones you get at the parts store. There is a washer that goes over the handle shaft on the back side of the dash, and then the E-clip snaps into the groove. I was lucky to have the original clip, don't know if any of the old Ford parts suppliers carry those extra-thick e-clips that Ford used.
