Hello, I have a 37' Chevy (sedan delivery) that I plan to start a street rod build on soon and I am planning and looking at different parts to use and as far as I can see that the pickup frames looks very similar up to 54', is this the case? I have found a lot of parts for 47-54 trucks and I am wonder if some of it will fit the 37' frame, thinking about things like drop leaf-springs and disk brake-kits for original spindles. I also need some steering components. I'm using a 69 Nova rear axle.
If you have a car-based sedan delivery, you want stuff made for the cars, the trucks have a different style of frame rail.
I dont know about C-channel frame. As long as it is a sedan type frame.Unless you have a truck style Panel truck.
If I'm not mistaken the pickup, delivery and Coupe(?) has the C-channel frame and the car models have the "hat-profile" frame, from it's shape if you see it from the end. Mine has the same as the pickup.
if you have a C channel frame you probably have a panel delivery, based on the pick-up truck. so all pick-up parts will work. the sedan delivery is based on the p***enger car and all p***enger car suspension will work.
Sunnfjorden, '37/38 Chev car frames had a top hat cross section. The truck frames were a"C" channel, 1/2# and larger. .....................Jack
Yes I HAVE(!!!) the C-channel/pickup frame, the question was if I can use 47-54' pickup suspension parts?!
Anyway, this is the kit I had in mind: http://www.performanceonline.com/19...PENSION-KIT-MONO-LEAF-SPRINGS-FRONT-and-REAR/, they also have disk-brake kits (47-54) that I am wondering about... I have also been looking at Speedway Motor and I see there is a lot of parts I need as well
