I recently picked this up for next to nothing. I have a 40 that needs a bed. All I had to go on was a few pictures. Made the drive yesterday and when I got there I noticed it has a different axle. So here are my questions.
    1. Is this a correct 38-40 bed?
    2. Is that a tonner axle?
    3. Does that make this a tonner bed?
    4. Are the beds the same between the tonner and the 1/2 ton with the fenders being the only difference?
    5. Are the axles worth anything?

Based on the appearance of the middle pockets above the fenders, I believe this not likely a regular 1/2 ton pickup bed. It may be helpful to measure the inside dimensions and compare them with that of a 1940 1/2 ton bed. Tonner or not, maybe it can work if the dimensions agree with the caveat being it may not lay flat on your ch***is, but I am not familiar with a tonner ch***is.

    Hope this little bit helps.

Definitely a tonner bed longer and taller than a half ton.

That middle brace is not like a 1/2 ton, also the bed is deeper on the sides below the reveal.

Interesting. So it seems safe to ***ume it's definitely a tonner. That's ok. I could probably use this still, just might not look like a 1/2 ton. Are these big axles good to keep for anything?

2016-03-08 21.52.42.jpg That probably has the 2 piece rear end, that has one of the cast iron bells that's used with the 301 Champ or Frankland quickchange. Hold on to the open carrier too.
