Heres my latest project,, used to run a FED Dragster with an XKE Engine in it but did not get enough seat time so sold up and bought this.. Had it about a year now but only started work at the backend of last year.. Already had a lot of great work done before I got it and would like to find out who did it.. maybe you know the builder as it was bought from the US?. Anyways.... Chopped 2", roof moved forward 4".. Next job is to fit the Lassale grill and rework the head lights.. Heres a couple of pics to give you an idea where were at... More after the weekend if we make any progress.. Doing it in my spare time.
That will be slick! I like where you are headed with the grill/headlights. Top treatment is nice. Did you have parts from a donor for door frames/rear of roof? Or did you build all that?
Hi & welcome. That is going to be a very nice ride. Should make a show car winner. What engine, tranny & rear end will you use? I used a 57 Chevy 255 six cylinder that is tricked out with bore 0.060 over, hot cam, 2 two barrel Weber carbs, headers & electronic ignition. As I am redoing it as mainly a Hwy driver for long trips we are trying to finish up this week with installation of a 350 auto tranny and a 57 Chevy pickup rear end with a 307 ratio. That rear end has same 6 bolt wheel pattern so my original wheels still fit. I stayed with the six cylinder as everybody puts a small block v8 & such and I wanted to be different. Staying with a 6 is being different these days and at local shows it draws great comments because of that. Jimmie
ALL from the original car Sancho... reworked the gutters/drip rail and door tops. This pic gives you a better idea....
Jimmie im using a SBC as the car came with mounts etc already in place, plus I already had one in "stock".. th350 and Ford 9".. ive had many years with an inliner so going the easy route this time....
Wickedly slick the direction yer going in - real nice - love the grille too - please keep us posted !
very nice, brit digger, i'm watching. some nice modifications there! let's see it finished. Cheers, Carsten
I think the chop with the roof moved with the drip rails are spot on. I would not change a thing. I think you need them to accent the roof, so it does not look too plastic looking.love the sound 6 cylinders make. I be following closely Frank
Thanks Frank.. im chasing my dream and im getting closer.. Trying to do what others don't do with regards to mods.. similar but different.
Do Westergard style headlights the Buicks are too new for your style car, 37 38 GM long pod headlight will be a better look.
Hi I like your build. Where did you get the wheels. View attachment 3770852 52 Pontiac.. with bullets..
I like John Lees suggestion on the head lights. I just the newer headlights don't match the theme of car. But this is your dream and I am along for the ride. Frank
Thanks for your comments John, ive no exact year to "Copy" im building with what I like from several era's.. it will feature lake pipes flush fitting in the running boards.. don't know what era that's from but in my head it will get me to where I want to go..
Hi they are 1952 Pontiac caps but ive added a custom bullet to the centre..And thanks for your comment.
I am looking for a similar look but on a 20 inch wheel. Interesting you used a jag engine for your previous project. I am using a modified one for a project I am working on now. Very rare for people out here in the US to use them. Do you have any pictures of the dragster?
