Last summer I found a '38 Ford Deluxe Coupe for sale and picked it up for a future project. I have finished my '51 F1 build and am ready to start on the '38.
    The coupe came with.
Heidt's Mustang front IFS. Older, but new parts probably mid 1990's not fully completed. Lacking a shock, and nothing tightened down. Has 5 on 4.75 disc brakes.

New Currie 9" rear end with parallel 4 link, and coil overs w/shocks. Lacks a panhard bar. Has 5 on 4.75 disc brakes.

A new manufactured frame. Fully boxed, but no "X" bracing. The IFS and IRS are all welded in and look great.

A new frame mount brake booster. No brake plumbing.

There is a 2000 GM Vortec 7.4 motor and 4L80E trans. mounted in the frame. It has the wiring harness and computer. I don't know if the harness is complete. The air intake and filter box are there.
The motor was from a 2000 Chevy 2 wheel drive 3/4 ton truck. Wrecked at 48,000 miles.

The Coupe body has had extensive body work done. All new floor and firewall, new tail section, and lower body panels welded in. The rear fenders still need a lot of work, but are solid. The rain gutters are removed and the solder is missing from the upper trunk area. The doors have been modified to open from the front "suicide" position. There is '39 Standard front sheet metal. Hood, sides, grill and fenders. There is nothing of the radiator support or mounting pieces there.
Also included is an electric door opener kit, and electric window kits. Many of the new rubber seals and mounts are included.

I am not a mechanic by training, but I managed to do most of the work on the '51 F1. Including a motor swap of a 383 Stoker into the F1. I farmed out the body work and paint.

Does anyone have experience installing a Vortec L29 7.4 l motor into a late 30"s Ford. Especially using the GM wiring harness. I can't seem to locate the proper wiring diagrams. Most of the harness is unplugged, and loose. I am at a bit of a loss here on where to start.

Your post says the motor/ trans is already installed so I gess it just needs plumed and wired. If it's a factory harness and you know what it came out of, as you listed, abd Google is failing you if go to your chevy dealer and ask a tech about a harnesss diagram. Be a good place to start anyways

I'd also think that you'd have better luck finding the info over at dog fight. It's another of Ryan's forums, there should be a link at the bottom of this page or maybe the main page
