Today i worked on my 38 ford pu. Cleaning the fuel system and removed the fuel pump. I checked the push rod and i see i can take it in 2 pieces, it looks like its adjustable or the tip is renewable, someone puts 2 rings between it to get more length. In the parts book i cant find a pushrod with a removable tip,can anyone tell me if this is a original part?

Someone has pulled it apart and modified it to make it longer. Either to make up for wear on the rod, wear on the cam lobe or the wrong rod length to begin with. There are several different lengths of these depending on the engine specs. They could have also used the wrong fuel pump stand. Adding length to the rod was an old trick to try to make up for wear. Pretty common. They are not adjustable.
