Hey guys, after making up the split exhaust and tripple carb manifolds for the flathead 6 in my 38, i decided to give the body a birthday. The body had been "restored" about 20 odd years ago but now had rust, especially in the tail pan, lower guards and so i found out, along the bottom of the sills which didnt exist much anymore once the running boards came off. The body was only in primer when i purchased the car also and it was retaining moisture and lifting in places. I replaced both sills along the bottom edges, made my own new tail pan section, repaired all around boot/trunk opening, sectioned r/f lower gaurd to re-allign swage at rear of guard as had been panel beaten out of shape and stretched, rust in lower section of all guards and cowel was also repaired. I gathered some good mates to help sand her down and get it ready for priming. A friend handled the painting of the guards at his shop, while the body was painted at home. It is now 2 tone grey, so subtle that in certain light you cant tell. The body is satin grey while the gaurds are a slightly darker 2K gloss. I added a few more accessories, grille guard, passing light, reverse light etc. Reassmebled and took for a cruise just yesterday, just in time for summer. Now its going to sit for a month while a bunch of mates and i head to California to have some fun, maybe catch some Hambers while we are there. Here is before.... Here is during and after...
I like it. Looks like a way cool family cruiser. The low-rider guys are gonna be diggin' it BIG time!
