I sent the crank back. It was my fault for not checking scat directly for the specs. The internal balance crank has larger counter wieghts and this hits my pistons. The customer sevice guy at the publishing company tryed to argue with me that it should work and I just sat there and laughed. he also said that it would only work in a 400 block not a 350... dumbass... the crank to piston clearance wouldnt change with either block. I havent ground on the block yet. I want to assemble everything and then check for clearance. I only got one piston in before I hit this snag. I am going to run a pretty small crank from BDS and run 1.6 rockers to get the lift without having the large lobed on the cam. Im pretty sure my rod to block clearance will be minimal, as my rods are forged Scat countersunk cap screw style. The ARP bolts dont stick out at all. The external balance crank from summit is exactly the same price(down to the penny) so All this is going to set me back is shipping and time.
YULE...someone has installed the wrong crank, rod or piston. if your building this engine yourself. then get intouch with your auto machine shop. it's an easy fix, just seams like a disaster. good luck my friend...POP.
YULE...their right about grinding the block for piston rod clearance, but never ever grind the piston itself. man you wouldn't believe how out of balance it will be, and brother i don't need to tell you how expensive they are...POP.
My bad,, I didn't read all the posts,,but I'll leave what I typed anyway. I don't see where the block has been clearanced for the rodbolts. This is a must as I've built a few 383's and 385's myself. I even cut off the big end of a good rod to mock up for the clearance. Seriously I don't see where you ran a grinder over the inner part. I have a couple a video's on youtube of break in/starting two of them.
