The 39 Deluxe Coupe I owned had no vent windows but the door glass on both the driver's side and passengers slid back and then down when opened. I dont know if that was standard or something the previous owner worked up. The 40 Deluxe Coupe I am buying does not have vent windows but quite a few I looked at did. Was the vent window only on certain models or have owners simply removed them. I am not familiar with the manufacturers specs or am I able to find out this info.
39 = no vent windows, but roll back then down as described. 40 = seperate vent window. If it doesn have them, it may have had 39 doors added, or previous owner removed. HOWEVER, they are attached to the garnish moldings, so if the doors just don't have garnish moldings, look for the window opening on the door sill to be wider for about the 1st 8 inches from the front
Look at where the windshield wiper towers are. If they are above the windshield, the car is a '39. If they are in the cowl (below windshield) it's a '40. Ford added vent windows in 1940 since they eliminated the opening windshield that year.
Thanks for the additional info. Its definitely a 40 but without vent windows. Everything else is 1940 as well as the title. The cowl vent is also welded up and finished over but the wipers are on the cowl, the garnish mouldings are 40 as well.
I just did one piece door glass in a 40. they were different than the 39's pattern because the 40's don't roll back to vent.
