Can anyone tell me if the steering gearbox frame mount bracket for a '40 Ford is the same as a '39? I misplaced the bracket for my '39 Ford pickup and another member has one that came off of a '40 Ford.

  2. Not one hundred percent sure but I believe they are real close. HRP

In the Ford chassis parts catalogue, 78-5104 is steering gear to frame bracket for 37-40 passenger and 37-41 commercial.

No, 48-5104 fits the older steerings, you need 78-5104, 1937-1940 all use it. The prefix may well be stamped on it, but no matter, 1939 and 1940 are the same.

Damn, Thanks Bruce. That was a typo on my part.
Fixed it in my original post.

Thanks for the info. Now, I'm off to buy a bracket. Shortly thereafter, the old one will magically appear!

If I remember correctly, mine was identifiable...I think it had the "78" stamped on it.
