    Hey Hambers.

I have had an ad on US car website in Denmark, where I searched for a '20-'30 ch***is, and I have found an okay '31 Chevy ch***is. But a lot of others have also approached, including one which has a complete 1939 Chevy 4 door. It is rusty, but very cheap and a good complete ch***is. I don't really like the 4 doors and I also have my '50 styleline, so i don´t need one for more people. So I was wondering if it was possible to turn it into a pickup? Has anyone made any like this before? Much like pictures or some build threads ...

    Regards Andreas from Denmark

Anything is possible. We find lots of old sedan come pickups on farms. Most are sheer butchery but a few of them are pretty cool.

It would be cool if there was anyone who had images of both the good ones and the not so good ones

You could build like a ute or ranchero-elcamino ,keep the front doors, and slide the rear of the roof forward.....try it!

You´re right, that is a very nice pickup. Maybe lower the suspension 4-5" and thats it...;)

  8. I can't do link from my phone, but check my Chevy RPU album.
I took a beat up 35 Chevy Standard, and cut it up. Lots of fun. :D

Take a look at the link in post #7, then find post #477 and post #429 in there. You could cut out the rear doors, keep the rear quarter windows, and make sort of a 5 window cab much like several of the Ute body styles. This could be done w/ an integrated bed or a regular box bed.

Look for the build posts by HAMBer toddc, who built a roadster ute from a '39 Pontiac ( basicly the same car as yours ) though I think his may have been a two door. Close enough. K6

  12. Welcome to the HAMB! I like you already, If its rusty and crusty and cheap enough, I say go for it. Cut that mother up and get your creative juices flowin'.
    I'll watch.

I like the pickup and 5/w Ute ideas.
Have you considered converting it into a Coupe by utilizing Coupe quarters, trunk, rear window?
4 dr. to Coupe conversions have been done a lot with 32-36 Fords.
If you came up with the Coupe sheet metal or most of it, the conversion wouldn't be any more metal work than a well done pickup.
Getting the panels to Europe would best be done by shipping the quarters and trunk as separate flat panels. Maybe find someone who's shipping a car in a container and could work with you on fitting the panels in their container.

As an example, here's a 40 Buick Coupe that went for $800 or less. There was another late 30's GM Coupe being parted out recently.

Maybe someone can chime in as to BOP Coupe interchange with Chevy.
There was a recent HAMB build where a guy made a chopped Coupe custom from the front of a late 30's/early 40's 4 dr. (Buick?) and grafted a late 30's/early 40's Coupe roof and quarters. It was a mix n match of parts but really worked well.

Hey, Wayfarer, I don't have a thread to really point you towards, but search out an Aussie drag race team, the Fat Brothers (Bros.) ? They have a '39 Chevy Ute, p***enger car front clip, pickup box on back. Don't remember what has been changed to make it race ready, but its worth a look.

Edit, went looking, and I found it! K6
