I recently replaced a front patch panel on the rear fender of my '39 two door Ford sedan. I noticed after trying to fit it to the old fender that it was one inch shorter than the fender on the right side, as measured from the running board mounting area to the wheel opening. The patch panel measured 5 inches. The right side measured 6 inches as well as the old piece of fender that I replaced. I may be looking at more metalwork. Has anyone encountered this? Thanks in advance, Rod

I don't have any pictures but the patch panels I bought measures 5" from the running board mounting to the wheel opening. My left fender and the old fender both measure 6". I decided to graft the rear portion(wheel opening portion) of the old fender on to the patch panel. It worked fine. I know, I should have measured first. That's once. It came out fine & I'm really glad.

I am happy that it worked out for you. I don't recall anyone else posting about that problem.
