39 Ford banjo steering wheel on a 40 to 48 steering column.

Has anyone put a stock 17" 39 Ford banjo steering wheel on a 40 to 48 stock steering column? I know that the key and tapers are the same, however the 39 ford has floor shift and the 40 through 48 has column shift. If so what if any modifications were made to the wheel or column?
