Here is a 39 Ford column modified for a 525 box and horn setup-works with this wheel or stock wheel as well. Doing a 40 as well-depending on top shaft used can do this way or with a 55-57 Chevy top bearing with horn wire attached.

The first pic shows the wire that comes from the horn ****on to a br*** strip that's insulated from the shaft. The electrons that flow through the wire travel through the strip at any part of the column's rotation to the br*** ****on shown later.

The 1st picture is the steering shaft-top is stock 39 Ford-bottom is 3/4" double D. The copper sleeve has the wire attached and out the top for horn contact. It is insulated from shaft-horn contact shown screws into column and runs against copper sleeve with wire to horn relay-have done many. If using a solid shaft then the Chevy bearing with horn wire attached is used and wire comes out behind column drop--do this on 40's THX alchemy

Is the little br*** ****on spring loaded? What's in the housing inside the grommet? What's that white stuff made of?

It's a Chevy horn contact that I took apart and modified--the contact is spring loaded the plastic shell is threaded 3/8X24-column tapped the same-have also made them out of nylon white pieces from ace hardware-they can also be made from the little plastic in line fuse holders-use those in 40 wheels with the trifive top bearing. 1st contact I made from a piece of the white stuff from Ace, a spent 22 shell with wire soldered on and a spring-years ago-still working fine. Hope this makes sense-helping a guy right now in Arkansas via the phone and pics do a 40 column with the wire down the center like this one shown.

So is that a ground wire and if so, why the electrons?
