Hot Rods '39 Ford E- brake Question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by cactus1, Jan 23, 2011.

  1. First of all, sorry for the following poorly worded question. Is there suppose to be something on the end of the tube to contain the spring on the cable ,or am I not understanding the function?

Yes, there is supposed to be a metal clip. the spring tension helps push the lever forward. I used a horse shoe clip because I didn't have the original thin metal clip.

  3. Thanks for the reply.Does the tension of the spring keep it in place or is it like a friction fit cap with a slit in it that you press on the end?

So... not from the stack, but here is the part in question with slack in the cable.

And with the cable pulled tight.

Hard to make out the part I know. But if you don't recognize anything like this in your stash, I can start looking. ( not ready to give up the ones from the coupe just yet :) )

For ****'s sake does this ap rule or what?

  6. Ah! I got it. Now I see how the E clip mentioned above would work. Thanks fellas!

And no **** on the App! Posting pics from the phone is ****ing brilliant. Now you guys need to host the videos!

  7. I found a pic of the clip in question. I figured I would post it for future reference.

Yeah, pretty sure I have a few of those. Stop by before you order anything.

  9. Problem solved. One fender washer with cable-sized hole, cut -off wheel to make slit, flatten one side on the belt sander and voila'(sp) off to the races! ( metaphorically speaking anyway, ha!) Thanks Kevin.
