Customs 39 front bumper options, memory loss, help...

I'm trying to recall the bolt on different bumpers for 39/40. Was it 41, 42, 46-8? What I have is duly scabby or toasty, but I recall seeing later Ford bumpers, with or without a painted stripe? Dad told me too long ago what the flavor of the month was but he's long gone and I forgot. Of course pics, show em if ya got em. And as always thanks in advance...

 

A 41 bumpers goes right on and looks great. I'll be putting a pair on mine after i get them re-chromed.

 

Didn't they use Desoto or Chrysler bumpers from the late 40's or early 50's? The ones with the ribs.

 

37' DeSoto bumpers look good...

 

I would change mine to 41 ford bumpers if i could find some.

 

41’s would be the only ones I would consider.
46-48 too “heavy” IMO and ribbed are a love ‘em or hate them….

 

41’s will bolt on, but anything else will need the irons re-drilled. That’s why I went with a 41 bumper on my 40 instead of the 48s I had in stock.

 

The style of my build wouldn't like DeSoto bumpers. I see that as more kustom. Anyone got a pic of a 41 bumper on a 39 or 40? I guess I'd just like a little more visual m*** on the front, maybe...
