Looking for guidance from the pros on a 59Ab Flathead V8- 12 V

The car had a new gas tank about two years ago, but sat for 1 year. Turned on maybe 5 times during the year.

Gas clearly got dirty and was having a tough time starting and staying on.

I just replaced with a brand new starter.

    New mechanical fuel pump.

Holley carb was just rebuilt with a new kit.

New fuel filter by the electric fuel pump by the tank.

Blew compressed air via the fuel line.

Originally I only used the electric fuel pump to fill the glass bowl and then turn off the electric fuel pump, then turned over using the mechanical fuel pump, and off i went.

But after replacing the above and the car being warm(not a cold start). I shouldn't need the electric fuel pump to start it while on, but it won't. It requires I leave the electric fuel pump on about 20 seconds until it starts. Seems the mechanical pump won't start the car even with a full glass bowl.

Starting to wonder if it's the oil pump rod

Or maybe I should just bypass the mechanical pumps and add a fuel line regulator at 3.5lbs.

Once upon a time, it would start right up.

There are 2 different length rods for flatheads, make sure you have the correct one for your engine and manifold configuration.
