I prefer the original headlight rings myself. The car looks cool with the skirts, are they steel or gl***? Where did you get them? My dad has a 39 dodge sedan & I have a coupe. The Canadian Dodges shared the body with the American Plymouth, just differences in trim etc. Here is a couple of pics of ours. Looking forward to seeing yours finished. You are making great progress, makes me ashamed of how slow my projects move. BTW, if you come across a factory 2 carb intake for a flathead 6 I am looking for one.

    Silence is good.
The boys left this morning at 05:30 and all objectives were completed.
    body mounts installed... check
    front sheetmetal removed... check
    heavy food consumption... check
    tequilla pickling...afraid so.
    Roadkill Cafe Season 2 begins.

The good news beyond that was Pat (aka) Fordnuts hunted the back 40 of northern Sask to find a real nice front bumber for me. Ya just know that if you've exausted every wood pile, hay barn and s**** pile for a part, Pat will know where to find one for you. Thanks again Pat!

Now its out of town for the day and with luck when I get home tonight I'll be meeting the contractor who's building the shop and with luck... just a hint of luck I can get into the shop and start working on mounting the motor.

*(roadkill cafe is my buddies idea. Every year a bunch of us get together and cook up gonzo food. Last year he proposed getting wild and making a tonge in cheek cooking show that combined hotrods and food. Just something to share with our wifes and friends).

Lono, glad to hear you found a front bumper. Trying to find good parts for those 40 dodges can be a real PITA. later shawn

The projects been stalled now for 4 weeks.
In the mean time, I've gotten my shop plans approved for construction, been in physio for a herniated disk in my back and will be leaving my job behind and starting fresh.

This does leave me needing to sell my other project to pay for the shop.
anyone out there looking for a cool convertible?

    Greetings mate!
For the last 5 weeks I've been laid up with a back injury, piss me off! So needless to say, the 100 day goal is pooched but I am slowly making my way back into the shop.

A **** load of goodies have arrived and are stacking up. Hop up stuff, steering knuckle, 39 headlight pots, 40 dodge front bumper and other related goodies. My painter was over to have a close inspection of the panels and give me a price for making it a shiney car. The plans for my 40 x 22 shop have gone in for approval too so as I stand on the side lines, the world marches on.

Next week I'll be back in the thick of it returning to designing the motor mount to wrap around the steering column and installing a flat firewall ( it'll get the checkerboad look later on down the road).

Anyone want to make an offer on the convertible of mine???

  17. Anyone want to make an offer on the convertible of mine???Love to Lono...I'm up to my elbows in a 40 Plym and its 41 donor...cutting and grinding on the latter to make way for a 40 De soto...all poor unfortunate orphans looking for a home...all I need is a 40/41 Dodge to shed some bits to the project and I'll be able to create some hybrid MOPARenstein creation or some such...Just to clarify...yes I am building 1 car :D

A speedy recovery mate...and dont forget to christen the shed (read GARAGE in US speak) with some Jose's for good luck.

    Cheers

The work on the Plymouth has been stalled while I focus on my shop and recovering from a work injury but tody awas a cool day ( 102 degrees cool that is).

I ordered in a dumpster to clean up the wood piles and yard debry so the excavator can start next week digging out for the shop.
Marty Gibbs pulled in for a photo op with Lono's 30 before it ships off next week for Germany. A couple cold pops, a few war songs and the camera came out.

While it seems like nothing getting done, infact, nothing is getting done.
I've started buildingthe shop so once thats done i can move everything into it and settle down again. I hate being out of focus.

Been looking for a nice 38 ford 4 door sedan for 3 years to build a unique project. I had such a bad time looking at so much **** I finally gave up. Then I bought a beautiful 40 dodge from Cam with the intentions of building my "Deco Delivery" but just couldnt get into chopping it appart.

With my 38 find last week that I bought for parts, I turned back to looking for another nice 38... and as luck would have it, the ideal car came up just yesterday. Deal done.

So into the new shop goes, the 39 plymouth coupe build - yes I'll get back on it soon)... the 46 plymouth convert- wont be working on her for a while and now this one...

    The final goal:

Hey, there's a long Canadian winter lurking out there so I need the projects. Having both the 39 and 38 on the go at thesame time will give me a chance to bounce back and forth a little.. keep from getting to bogged down. ... anyone want a sweet deal on a 46 plymouth convert project?

I cant stand looking at that 6 cylinder any longer... out it comes I cant bring myself to doing it.
I bought a 70 Camaro 350 today and thats going in instead. I picked up a hurst mount to give up some steering box clearance too.

With the parts here I'll be back in the saddle in 10 days.

Intakes and carbs are available, but headers are custom made. Because its a 305 less 2 cylinders, a guy can bore them out and increase hp but I just gotta have those extra 2 cylinders.

Now I needa small project i can dump this motor/ ****** into... say a 48 crosley wagon or something.

You blew the dust off this one?
well, ashemed to day, I've done nothing on it all summer. I've been working on getting the shop finnished and just lately bought a 28 and 30 roadster for additional shop projects, but fear not, i havent forgotten this old girl.

I've added a 350/400 combo and pulled the little 6 out of it too, I couldnt get around it. I've also picked up a 41 Ford grill and i've started playing with measurements to see how well it will fit in and if it will look right.

The shops about 4 weeks away now and I'm so pumped about getting back to work on her. I'll update as soon as she gets rolled into her new beauty spot.
