Love following your thread. I just picked up a 1940 Plymouth coupe (pic) I found in a barn about 5 miles from home. Not sure what to do with it as I have other projects going but I thought I'd just say to you CHOP it!!!!!! Awe its your car do what you want but I included a picture of what I think is a '41 that was at the Pileup that is my inspiration. If chopped you can't go straight down you really have to stretch and slope that rear panel to really improve on that taildragger look. Does any one know how to contact the owner of the '41? I would love to get specifics on how he did his chop......Thanks and good luck, TomCat1

These are the only other ones I have. I talked to the owner breifly at the Pileup but didn't get my barn find until the next week or I would have asked more questions about the chop. It appears the rook lines on these years of Plymouths are all fairly similar. Actually the roof line is not all that much different then like a '39 Chevy. They look good either way it just depends on the real look you're trying to go for. This type of slope is awesome for that real tail dragger look, some one please send me more info on the owner of this cars chop ( I'll p*** it on to you). Kool thread Lono and good luck, TomCat1:cool:

I don't think it will look bad, I just think it looks too short.Seems like it needs a little longer front end.

Wicked build though, and I can't wait to see it finished.

I say yes to the shorty front end....it bucks the trend and I like the idea of a more "bull nose" look.....it'll shore look more tuff ;)

The short nose, imho, makes the car much more streamlined. I dig it a lot! :D

having to modify the cowl is going to push that motor into it ( in relation to the hood. Some modifications of the firewall too I'm sure.
The picture was taken without motor/ ******... so she'll sit pretty low.

It does make it look streamlined! IMHO,though, it just doesn't go with the skirts and taildragger look. I think you get sleek, low taildragger, or streamlined, fast and mean as hell look.

Does that make sense? of course, no one has acuused me of having a great 'eye' for these things, either!

I've got the nice teardrop headlights and pots that I was going to graph into the plymouth fenders but I'm strongly leaning towards the extra work of doing the whole front end-
    [IMG]

this is pretty close... and that is one of my favorite Ford front end

It looks like I need to add 3 inchs of the ford cowl to center the wheels in the fenders. It really makes the car look longer than it really is as its only the sheel metal thats changing.

    ....yep gunna do it.

The other day in the shop a guy walked in and said, " gawd I love your car, Can I buy it?"
    I said "Sure".

It's leaving my part of the country in its present state.
I'll send you a link about it in a PM.
