'39 standard hood clips

I'm fitting the front sheet metal on my '39 Ford standard. I'm trying to line up the hood clips to the indentations in the side panels. Is it necessary to get these lined up exactly? This car sits on an S10 frame so it's been real interesting to get the fenders and hood side panels fitted. I've debated attaching the side panels to the fenders with fasteners, tech screws or the like, but don't know that that would be e good idea. Thanks in advance, Rod
