I have a 39 top loader that needs to be gone thru. Who do y'all recommend in the Atl area? Thanks, Cameron Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I've got a lot of confidence in Joe Varble @ Joe Smith Auto, on HAMB as Chpoped and Channeled ro similar, do a search while I go look elsewhere for him
Get a book from Van Pelt sales. It has pictures, part numbers, and tips for rebuilding. These transmissions are not complicated, very simple in fact. You can rebuild it yourself and gain some confidence and knowledge along the way. Then the next time it needs repair, you won't hesitate. The hardest part is the removal and installation.
Totally agree. These ******s are as simple as it gets. Small and easy to work on...almost like a toy!
What these guys are saying is true. But if you want a first cl*** professional job on it by a guy you can trust to do the right thing, Joe Varble is good on all manual transmissions. Just talked to him on phone and he is @ Road Atlanta for the weekend as he builds lots of trans for the road racing guys.. Call him next week at six seven 8- four eight 2- zero zero three 5.
