I have had 3 Deuce , 360 HP aluminum , Side Winder , iron 428 CJ , aluminum 428 PI , factory CI my favorite was aluminum 428 PI . I just saw one at a swap meet looked as nice as NOS for $ 1000.00 . That pricey ! Considering when I was a teenager working for Ford , 89.00 would get you new in a box . The Perfomer RPM is a nice intake . Nice thing about early OEM intakes is the oil fill cap . Blue Thunder was a company that made nice intakes . Not sure if they are still in operation anymore .
Should also stay away from some of the oddball “fuel economy” aluminum intakes Edelbrock and others were peddling in the late seventies, as well as single plane manifolds that were popular. The small port fuel economy specials will kill your top end and the single plane manifolds kill the bottom end. Someone had one of the new Chinese import aluminum intakes on display at Turlock on Saturday. It looked pretty good for the price. It was displayed next to an Eddy Performer RPM. Overall, except for the weight, the stock cast iron piece isn’t the end of the world, and they made millions. Be aware that the Tbird manifold is lower for hood clearance, but in all honesty I have never seen the p*** car and T’bird manifolds side by side.
Anybody here buy or install one of those cheap aluminum knockoff intakes? I'm curious about the quality and fit. I suppose you get what you pay for....
Cheap China knockoffs , I have installed 2 China CV carbs on friends Harleys not one issue in 2 riding seasons . I know it’s off topic but something to think about .
