Does anyone know if there is a adapter for a 392 to a 700R4 ****** and if so, who supplies them? Also, is there such a thing as a adapter with mid motor mounts? My 392 has front motor mounts and I am going to need some support in the middle. If anyone out there has any suggestions please let them fly! By the way this is going in a 29 model a that I will be posting some photos of in different stages I have accomplished so far.
Wilcap makes the adapter. I'm not running a midmount on my desoto...It's in a model A as well My buddie isn't running one on his 392 either
Couple places make chevy adapters. Do you need midmounts because there's no room for a rear trans mount? Because if there's room for the rear mount, it's harmful to over-restrain. Good luck
Wilcap has the adapters. The mounts you are talking about sound like the Nicson mounts that were used for boat applications. Littleman used this system to mount his 392 in Death's Doorstep. In my signature line you will find a link to the Hemi Index. Click on the banner. Just about everything you ever wanted to know about transmission adapters is in there including a long addition by Pat from Wilcap. Lots of information here! Out of curiosity, why are you trying to mid mount your engine? Is this for looks?
I just wasn't sure about the mid mount part. I have always been a Chevy nut and have ventured into new grounds and when I bought the 392 hemi and saw the mounts where up front, I just ***umed they would have had a mid mount with all the torque these motors put out BUT thanks to you guys I see that I realy don't need one! I guess I shoud have posed the question "do I need one" Again thank you all!
If you are using the Nicson front mount you will need the mid mount as well. If you're just mounting them from the stock mounting ears, you will not need a mid mount. Two engine mounts and the third point being the transmission is sufficiant. Just all depends on your application, but if you're using a front mount they are designed to work in conjunction with a "mid mount", I believe. Maybe Dave can expand on why/how he did his.
I’m looking for a 392 Hemi adapter to Ford AOD, any luck fellows?? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Are you aware that Chrysler makes a version of A.O.D. like the Ford and G.M. trans that uses the same adapter as the Torque Flight trans. It comes as lock up and non lock up converters. Also manual T.V. rod. The Wizzard
