Has anyone used this exact system? Seems like it's an excellent alternative to rotary wool buffing with compound. Also is there inexpensive alternatives to the high end air sander and polisher shown in the videos for a newbie to start out with? Actually an electric sander would be better. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/collisi...cts/perfect-it-1-step-paint-finishing-system/
I’ve never been able to completely get away from the wool pad but I have used this system. I use it but the wool pad is still involved.
Not exactly, but as a complete novice I've quite recently done trizact 3,5 and the 8k on a da sander followed by foam pads and 2 compounds on a da polisher on single stage 2 pack paint with astounding results. The trizact discs seem to last a long time. I've still got the single sample 8000 disc (try before you buy) and have polished a 3w coupe body (w filled roof), 2 doors and trunk lid (which I did 3 times over due to repaint - it was my test panel! ). It's considered to be a slower process than the rotary buffer and wool pad, so seasoned pros probably wouldn't be interested, but for a novice able to put a little more time into it, it's fantastic, and not slow (compared to?) really. Fast enough for me, and safe and controlled, with stunning results. I used a regular 6" da air sander ($75?) and an electric da direct drive polisher ($225) and foam pads from Lake Country. More expensive da polishers are around, $600? Chris
